Hi! I’m Amy, a Houston, Texas–based independent editor. I’m the type of person who finds this joke hilarious:

My love of language began at an early age, and I’ve lived and breathed editing since I got my first taste of it in my high school’s newspaper class. (Yes, I am that grammar nerd.) I loved editing and made it my focus in both undergraduate and graduate school. (See my FAQ/Rates page for more background information and qualifications.)

Editing is especially crucial these days since we live in a competitive, technology-powered world. First impressions are often made by the words we write. Think about it: résumés, books, emails, websites, etc. Fair or not, people judge us by that content. You don’t want the time you spent slaving away on your debut novel to be in vain because you unknowingly sent an error-filled manuscript to a literary agent or printing company. No matter what you’ve written, it’s a reflection of yourself and needs to be pristine and professional.

That’s where I come in. I will thoroughly edit your work, checking and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, consistency, flow, structure, character development, plot, and more, depending on the type(s) of editing you choose.
